Many brands are joining Metaverse and adopting blockchain technology, now Mercedes-Benz Group AG which is a German multinational automotive powerhouse has also become the latest luxury vehicle company to step into Metaverse. The company filed a total of five trademark applications for its own line of NFTs.
On Dec 19, 2022, Michael Kondoudis, a licensed trademark attorney published a post on Twitter that showed that the luxury car maker company Mercedes has filed its five different applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
According to the tweet the trademark filings are for Mercedes Benz, Mercedes, S-Class, G-Class, and Maybach the company is planning to use these trademarks to develop NFTs, virtual clothing and goods, virtual vehicle parts, financial services, and crypto trading. This is not the first time when a multinational company has stepped into Metaverse before this many other companies including Nike, Adidas, Meta, Rolex, Jack Daniels Whiskey, Viacom, Viacom International, Paramount Pictures, Formula One racing, etc. have adopted the Metaverse and filed the application to secure their intellectual property in the Metaverse.
In September 2022, American car manufacturer company Ford Motor filed 19 trademark applications for its major car brands including Mustang, Bronco, Lincoln, Explorer, and F-150 Lightning.
